Heartbeats (docs: heartbeat) run periodic agent turns in the main session. The default interval is 30 minutes (or 1 hour for Anthropic OAuth setups). Each heartbeat sends a prompt instructing the agent to read its HEARTBEAT.md checklist and surface anything that needs attention.
